   Wow, that was a really good summary of what we’ve learned in this class so far. In addition, I thought the presentation style was really cool. I wanted to play around with screencasting this week, but I have been traveling a lot, so my time has been very limited. What do you call this presentation format? It was very engaging! My friend, who is getting in masters in Music Theory at Kent State, was just discussing the music lab he got to play in this week while we were at the gym today. He had so much passion and excitement for all he’s learned and been able to adopt for his students. Do you find that you are able to utilize a lot of these available technologies for music education in your own classroom, or is there significant costs involved?

   Also, I really liked the last piece about collaboration. I think that is one very positive thing to come out of the increase of technology in the classroom. Working together is so vital in today’s world and now we can do it without ever seeing one another in person–it’s makes the world seem that much more accessible.

     Hi Skyra,

     Thanks for the praise. Working with video is fun but time consuming. The primary presenter I used in this presentation was Apple Keynote but I also used Screenflow to put the final presentation together. Other elements of the presentation were created using Photoshop, iMovie, and a smattering of other smaller programs. I’m glad we don’t have to do one of these every week.

     I use a lot of technology in my own classroom because I don’t think I could teach the way I do without it. I don’t know as my approach is typical of other music teachers but I find most of us are pretty tech savvy because a lot of working with music is knowing how to use various bits of tech.

     Collaboration is indeed the key. Some of the coolest things I’ve done as a teacher have been brought about by working with others.Thanks again for the positive feedback!

   Your video was truly amazing! It was entertaining and very engaging. You did a great job of backing up your points with research. I found this topic to be really interesting because the music classroom is not one where you typically think of using technology. When I picture a music class, I typically picture something like the graphics you used in the beginning of your video. By the end of your presentation, I could see that technology could play a larger role in a music classroom than I had previously pictured.
   I really enjoyed the area of your video in which you presented presentation software. The examples you used were very engaging. I had never heard of PowToon, but I am going to have to check it out. I also agree with you that one of the huge advantages of using this software in our classrooms is that of collaboration. It is so important that our students learn how to work with others. There are not many jobs available that do not require some sort of collaboration.
   Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I really enjoyed it!

   Karl, I can’t imagine how much time you spent on this. Colors, graphics, layout, transitions, music… everything is polished and paced PERFECTLY. The way you roll out the information and your justification is spot-on, and by the end of the video, I definitely wanted to be your music student! Of course the content of your presentation is excellent (thorough, organized, and well-documented), but what impresses me most is how you managed to work in so many bells and whistles without the video seeming at all “over-worked”. I think you have an excellent eye for design!! Gold star!!
