    Welcome

This page will act as a homepage for Project Based Learning (PBL). Project Based Learning is a method of instruction that fosters a student centered learning environment through an inquiry driven approach grounded in assessments that follow state or national standards.

This PBL is designed for secondary music students and focuses on the exploration of performance practice. After exploring different performance practices students will design and produce a concert in which they will handle all aspects including being the performers themselves. This PBL does not focus on performance preparation for individuals. Instead, students will inquire about the myriad of ways that people around the world perform before attempting to put together a performance of their own based on their initial inquiry. The students will also gain knowledge from contact with local performance professionals. Throughout its several phases students keep a reflective journal in order to document their individual learning. This PBL based unit is grounded in MENC performance standards and 21st Century Learning Goals which includes formative and summative assessments.
